Kate Mansfield will be the guest speaker. Kate is a PhD-Assistant Professor and Executive Project Manager of the Marine Turtle Research Group (MTRG), University of Central Florida (UCF). The MTRG is responsible for conducting sea turtle research in the Archie Carr National Wildlife Refuge. This year Kate assumed the responsibilities of Llewellyn “Doc” Ehrhart, PhD-Professor Emeritus and ACNWR Project Creator, with the MTRG upon his retirement.
Kate is a member of the Biology Department Research Faculty at UCF. Her areas of expertise include marine biology and vertebrate zoology with an emphasis on sea turtle ecology, behavior, habitat use, and conservation.
Kate is an accomplished sea turtle researcher and author. Most recently, she participated in writing an article entitled “Predicting the distribution of oceanic-stage Kemp’s ridley sea turtles” that appears in the “Biology Letters” published in the Royal Society Journal. She has also written a chapter for the new Sea Turtle Biology book that will be released in the near future.

Turtle Krawl 5K Run/Walk
The 2013 Turtle Krawl 5K Run/Walk was an amazing success. It was the largest 5k ever in Brevard County with a record breaking 2190 registrants. Even course records were broken!
